WHAT'S IN A NAME?
One of the first questions we are asked is, "Where did you get DWC?" As much as we would like to say there is great story about a mountain-top experience, the answer is really quite simple. The company was founded in 1999 by Doug W. Hoefer and Keith Clark. In 2010, Adam C. Pozek joined the firm adding to DWC's reputation for strategic thinking and industry expertise.
In the early 1990s, when Keith was working for Coopers & Lybrand, he was recognized by his peers in Pension Management Magazine as one of the top five employment benefit consultants in the industry. Keith is a leading industry speaker and has authored The Defined Contribution Handbook, which is still used today.
Doug earned a reputation for helping investment advisory firms build their defined contribution practices, placing a premium on providing customized solutions for their clients. He was instrumental in developing DWC's detailed Plan Design Projection Report — a customized report delivered to investment advisors within two business days.
With numerous industry credentials and affiliations, Adam is recognized for his knowledge and passion for serving the plan sponsor, investment advisor and partnered recordkeepers. Much like Keith, Adam is an entertaining and oft-sought speaker on technical topics as well as industry best practices.
A TRACK RECORD OF SUCCESS
In the first 10 years, DWC focused primarily on consulting to some of the largest service providers in the employee benefits industry, including banks, broker-dealers, mutual fund families, recordkeepers, insurance companies, third party administrators and investment advisory firms. These projects were geared toward helping our clients achieve one central goal – to grow their 401(k) business.
Over the years, we received numerous requests from our institutional clients to not only consult but to also offer ongoing services to plan sponsors. Our experience and market research showed that investment advisors and plan sponsors were looking for several things – understandable communication, fast and accurate results and in-depth expertise. Knowing we could deliver all three, in 2009, we made the decision to expand our services to include annual compliance and government reporting as well as consulting services for retirement plans. Within the first year, we were awarded more than 300 clients based on our reputation for knowledge, accuracy and responsiveness.
Today, DWC serves more than 700 clients across the country. They range in size from single-participant defined benefit plans to complex 401(k) plans including several thousand employees. They come from all industries from residential construction and professional practices to rocket scientists, literally.
